Feijoada, one of the most famous dishes of Brazilian cuisine, is a type of stew made with black beans and various meats.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup black bean
  • 1.1 lb beef
  • 3.5 oz pork bacon
  • 1 piece onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 pieces bay leaf
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 4 cups water

Directions

  1. Soak the black beans in water the night before and let them sit.
  2. Drain the beans the next day and put them in a pot.
  3. Chop the beef and pork pastirma into small pieces and add to the pot.
  4. Chop the onions and garlic into small pieces and add them to the pot.
  5. Add bay leaves, salt, black pepper, and vinegar to the pot.
  6. Add water to the pot and do not stir.
  7. Cook the pot over medium heat for 1.5 hours.
  8. Feijoada is ready. Serve hot.
